April 2002 I returned to Kupa Piti for the second stage of the trans/Actions
residency with Irati Wanti. During the three weeks I spent there we sat
down with many of the kungkas in their homes and talked about what each
of them wanted in terms of exhibiting and selling their work, and how
we could work together on this project. We continued the process of systematically
documenting the kungkas' punu (crafted objects)
and artwork which had been started last year. Professional photographic
documentation of the artwork would be great, but for now we are doing
it home style the best we can. Here are a few images from their group
portfolio, reproduced with the permission of the makers and their families.
